Game viewing

One cannot visit South Africa without including a game drive in your itinerary. Game viewing in this country is one of the most amazing experiences, if planned properly.

One of the main attractions to game drives in South Africa is the fact that the big five can be viewed in several national parks as well as game lodges. The big five are: Lion, Elephant, Rhino, Buffalo and Cheetah. Apart from the big five there are antelope, Giraffe, Zebra, wildebeest and many other wild animals. On game drives one can get very close to the wild life without disturbing them. This is an exhilarating experience and something tourists from all over the world return to regularly.

Most game lodges have game drive options on open vehicles. This is the best  way to experience the wild and to view wild animals in their natural habitat. In most of the national parks like Kruger National Park one can go on self drive tours. The roads in these parks are mostly tarred and in pretty good condition.

This is an inexpensive way of getting close to nature and wild life. South Africans regularly make time to visit national parks and one is often amazed at how many different animals you get to see in this way. Game viewing can be done in virtually every province in South Africa but the main areas are situated  in the Mpumalanga, Limpopo and North West provinces.
