A Guest House combines 3 three of the most favorite things in life which are, hosting, cooking food and designing a home. I have always enjoyed having people round for the weekend and pampering them with good food wine and most of all a good rest with a good company. And a guest house is the best way to do that on an ongoing bases. Putting this house together was and still is a pet project for me choosing each item to add character and form the overall established and classic look, but still having a fresh and new feel to it. I have been cooking since I can remember and have worked in two kitchens to see if I could follow that art of being a chef but I could?t fit into the strict and pressured life-style of a busy kitchen and much prefer the free flowing way of a small intimate place of my own. Waking up each morning and planning what will be for dinner being, creative on a daily bases and seeing the satisfaction on my guests faces is lot more rewarding. Through all of this we hope to give you a hassle free stay offering a welcoming and friendly environment where you can relax feel at home and pampered at the same time.

FROM SANDTON: From Sandton City you take Oxford to Rosebank, turn right at the Mc Donald's you will pass three traffic lights until you get to a S-bend junction you must turn right and then an immediate left onto a road that runs parallel to a golf course. Follow this road until the end of the golf course; you will get to a Traffic light turn right over a bridge. Go through the next traffic light and the very next road to your right is 6th Ave follow that road until you get to number 21. We are 21 6th Ave Melville. FROM CRESTA: Pass Cresta on your left on Beyers Naude on your way to Melville, pass North Cliff Corner shopping center on your right, keep going pass West Park Cemetery on your right and the Botanical Gardens on your left.Going up the hill into Melville just passed the RAU sports grounds you turn left into 6th Ave just over the rise and over the Turning Circle we are on your left Number 21 6th Ave. FROM O.R. THAMBO INTERNATIONAL: Take the Johannesburg road and at Galoolys interchange you take the Durban / Alberton road then turn leftt on Germiston Johannesburg Road Right over to Johannesburg til you get to Sandton and Pretoria Remember to drive only 80 km per hour follow that road until you get to the Empire turn off turn left into Empire Road, follow Empire until you get to a T-Junction by the SABC. turn right into Kingsway at the third set of traffic lights turn into University Street. Pass Mc Donald's on your left keep on University Street which becomes Main Street. Carry on until you get to the 3rd set of traffic lights, keep to the right hand side of the road where the island is. Where the island stops, turn right into 6th Avenue. The newest edition to the Akuwaiseni Guest House. That brings the total of rooms up to 30. Very shick with wooden origan pine floors and pressed ceilingsalso build in 1930 and here you can relax and enjoy it on the veranda where you can enjoy a glass of wine or just relax while look at the garden/birds around you. Here is 5 cottages as well, where you can do your own cooking in the evening or if you don't want to, you can have dinner with us

Local Attractions:

Melville's well known 7th street where all the Restaurants, Bars, Shops and clubs are, is going to be a pedestrian street soon and that will be something to experience, and is walking distance from all Two Houses. We are close to the University, SABC and ammenities. For 2010 we are 10 munites from FNB Staduim wher the opening and closing ceremony will be, 10 minutes away from Eliispark where alot of matches will be as well as 10 minutes away from the New Gautrain station in Rosebank. Two Shopping centers within walking distance. The New Melville Theater. Night clubs and bars for all tastes open till late. There is nature walks in the Melville Koppies. Close to the CBD of Johannesburg and the artist?s hub of Newtown. 10mins Drive from Rosebank and 20mins from Sandton City. 20 mins from Gold Reef City Casino and 20mins to Monte Casino. Game drive?s on Warthog Game Farm which is only 45mins away from the house.
